Upstream Color

you can force your story’s shape but the color will always bloom upstream ..fuck that’s a beautiful line.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover they say.. bullshit. I’ve been watching a lot films purely on aesthetic lately, and this trailer caught my eye. Directed, written, produced, cinematography and musical score by Shane Carruth (seriously it sounds like he does everything), most well known for Looper and the mind fuck that was Primer (i’m still not sure how..what..when..why..). The most curious thing about this film is that it was shot entirely on GH2′s hacked with a number of Voigtlander lenses. Beautiful.

Looking at these photos now, I miss the freezing cold I complained about endlessly. The layers upon layers amplifying belly warmth you acquire from too many beers. Finally, the last roll of film from the last night spent in Korea. The people make this really make this place, I can’t imagine the kind of friendship and family anywhere else in the world now. 우리집애, 우리집애.. this is my home in Seoul.

adidas Originals x Opening Ceremony

For the release of the adidas Originals x Opening Ceremony collaboration, Area 51 had an opening event in their High Street store. I’m very fond of adidas and their collaborations (Kazuki, as you already know), much like the Jeremy Scott ObyO collection this is not my forte but I can see where it fits in with the kids. Free drinks, free food, and an entirely new outfit to the store- everything looked great.

I rolled a couple of 800asa films through the contax- the results are less than favourable, but here are snaps of the eve. PS. I’m looking for a new lab to process film at.. who’s got suggestions?

01. Covernat x Dickies ‘Officer’ Pants

Dickies were a thing when we were kids. A must-have staple pant, that somewhere along the line fell off as we started to get older. The return of Dickies with korean label, Covernat, has pushed these pants into a new favourite. If you can’t tell, a belt is a necessity for me to wear these (they didn’t come in anything smaller than a medium) but like they were back in the day, the bagginess is essential.

There is no explanation for this sticker.. just a Haiku and a new friend to us all. It’s quite cheap to get things done in Korea, so I tend to get silly things printed, this one will make its mark across Auckland (and beyond) via instagram.

If you see me around and want a few stickers, hit me up- I tend to carry them on me on a daily basis. Alternatively when i’m less lazy (and poor) i’ll mail some abroad..
